Private Wilderness Experience in Botswana: Five questions for Wesley
1) Could you give us a brief overview of your activities in the programme?
During the trip, we had private guided tours with renowned guide mentors in an intimate, wildlife-rich area of the Okavango Delta. Activities included wilderness walks, game drives, sleep-outs, sunrise game drives, nocturnal drives, and specialist activities such as tracking, wilderness photography, and expert-led lectures during the midday. The expert-led lectures blended wildlife exploration, mindfulness, and conservation.
2) What was the biggest challenge for you during the programme?
Leaving.
3) Was there something you liked most? Or something you remember particularly negatively?
What I liked most was the exceptional support from the camp team. Although it’s a wilderness camp, they managed everything so well, always close by to help with any request and ensuring everything ran smoothly. I never felt anything was missing or forgotten. The camp team’s positive energy and commitment to creating a memorable experience really stood out.
The guides were another highlight—extremely knowledgeable, empathetic, and passionate. Whether on a game drive or observing bats in a tree, they were always eager to share their insights. Each guide had unique expertise, making the entire experience feel rich, authentic, and well-rounded.
4) Did you have certain expectations before travelling to the programme?
I expected the food to be good, but I never anticipated it would make me want to stay just for the meals. The cooks at Kwapa are amazing, and the variety of meals was endless.
The animal sightings were also something I didn’t expect to be so successful—this trip surpassed all my previous experiences.
5) What recommendations would you give to other participants?
If you're looking for an experience to bond with others and connect with nature, or if you seek a chance to reconnect with yourself, this is the perfect opportunity for both.
