Become one with Canada’s wild nature as a participant in this Wilderness Experience and learn essential skills to live and survive in the wilderness. You can decide whether your focus lies on bushcraft – living in entire harmony with nature – or on survival training. If you choose our bushcraft course, you get to know nature’s rich and valuable resources in a whole new way and learn to work with them.
If you, however, choose our survival course, you get to experience intense survival training in the midst of Canada’s wild backcountry. This course is aimed at teaching you the necessary practical skills as well as valuable mental strategies in order to make it through unexpected emergency situations in the wilderness.
In this course you learn to live in the rhythm of Canada’s wild nature and acquire essential skills to be able to live and survive in the wilderness. It is up to you whether you put the focus on bushcraft or survival.
After your arrival at Vancouver International Airport, you spend a night in a local hotel or hostel. The next morning, an Express Shuttle takes you from Vancouver to your accommodation: a ranch a few hours north of Vancouver that serves as your base station. After you had lunch on the ranch, you get an introduction to the upcoming course programme.
Bushcraft course: You spend the following days acquiring all the skills that bring you back to the roots. During your training you find out how to work with nature instead of working against it, and this way you learn to walk across new, unknown terrain with confidence and without fear. An experienced guide accompanies you and teaches you essential bushcraft skills in practical classes – often by providing realistic scenarios – so that you will have gained a rich store of knowledge at the end of your course. With Canada’s wild nature as the setting for your training, this Wilderness Experience provides for an in-depth educational experience that helps you appreciate and use the resources of nature.
Survival course: As a participant of our survival course amidst the seclusion of the southern Chilcotin Mountains in southwest British Columbia, you experience a real survival training, in which you learn to make it through unexpected and risky situations in the wilderness. At the end of the course, you will have the skills and strategies as well as the necessary confidence to master almost every emergency situation in wild nature. Your outdoor training takes place under realistic conditions in the middle of the rough and diverse terrain of the southern Chilcotin Mountains, so that both your practical skills as well as your mental strength get trained.
After your arrival at the ranch you’ll meet your team members and head to British Columbia’s backcountry. Your experienced instructor will show you how to build shelters for longer wilderness stays in which you will sleep the following nights. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are prepared by the group and will be enjoyed either in the shelter camp or while being on a day trip.
Free time is quite limited in this course as you and your group dedicate yourself to acquiring new knowledge and essential outdoor skills for most of the day.
