Great Himalaya Trail in Nepal
This fabulous trekking adventure takes you along Nepal's spectacular Great Himalaya Trail and lets you dive deep into the picturesque landscapes of the world-famous mountain range. You can either join the whole 149-day trek or individual sections.
Arrival and orientation in Kathmandu
You should arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on the first day of the programme. The transport service of our partner will pick you up and take you to a guest house in the city where you will spend the following two nights.
On the day after your arrival, you and the other programme participants can get to know Kathmandu's cultural sights on a tour of the fascinating capital.
To be well prepared for the upcoming trek, a thorough equipment check with your guide is scheduled for the late afternoon.
After receiving additional information and instructions, you will finally start your trekking tour along the Great Himalaya Trail the following morning. Depending on whether you participate from the beginning or accompany a single section, the transfer to the starting point of the trekking tour will be by plane or car.
Activities during the Great Himalaya Trail
The trekking tour starts in the morning hours of the third day of the programme. From Kathmandu you and your group will fly or drive to the starting point of the tour. Here you will start the trek together with your experienced guides and porters.
A typical trekking day usually looks like this: the day starts around 06:00 and 07:00 in the morning.
After everyone has had their breakfast, the equipment is packed up and handed over to the person in charge. The day's trek then begins with a short lunch break in between.
The new camp will be reached around 04:00 PM. After some coffee and tea in the afternoon and own activities, dinner is served between 06:00 and 07:00 PM.
Accommodation during the trekking tour
The first and last night of the trip you will spend in a guest house in Kathmandu. Here you will share a room with another trek participant which is connected to a private bathroom. In the guesthouse you will also receive breakfast and have access to Wifi. Lunch and dinner are not included in the price during your stay in Kathmandu.
During the actual Great Himalaya Trail, the camp for the night is set up every day at a different location in the Himalayan region. Each participant sleeps in his own tent. Occasionally you will also stay in a hotel or guesthouse. You will be provided with breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner every day. Please keep in mind that during your time in the Himalayas there is no internet or mobile phone network available to you.
Free time during the trek in Nepal
Throughout the whole trek and thus in the course of the individual trek sections, rest days are frequently taken to gather new strength.
On trekking days, the next camp is usually reached in the afternoon around 04:00 PM so the rest of the day can be used for sitting together, exploring the surroundings or resting.
Furthermore, the participants spend one night in Kathmandu at the beginning and at the end of the trip. During this time some free time can be enjoyed as well.

1. Himalayas
The Himalayas are the largest mountain range on our planet. Both in the width and in the height its extensions are gigantic. Mount Everest, located in the Himalayas, is the highest mountain in the world at almost 8850 metres. In addition, the eight-thousanders Kangchendzonga, Lhotse, Manaslu, Cho-Yu, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Makalu are part of the impressive mountain range as well.
